Integrative Psychotherapist

About me and my therapy practice

Combining psychodynamic, humanistic, existential and transpersonal psychotherapeutic models, I use a person-centred approach, which means I am led by your needs and work with what you bring.

I offer a warm, heart-centred approach that is free of all judgement. Providing a safe and secure space for you to explore yourself and your current life struggles.

I have been working with clients using talking therapies since 2004. I am passionate about transformation. I aim to work with you to encourage you into more personal freedom and a greater sense of satisfaction and peace.

My approach does not assume one size fits all. Instead, it is about helping to put words to your individual, subjective experiences to find new meanings and a way forward. Our relationship will be at the centre of our work, and I will provide an honest and supportive atmosphere where we will work hard and search for the gold hidden within all adversity.

My practice is inclusive, and I am respectful and affirmative of diversity in race, culture, ethnicity, sexuality, disability, gender and faith. I am a member of BACP and UKCP operating under their code of ethics.

What to expect from therapy

Sessions will usually take place at the same time each week and last up to 50 minutes. The time is yours to explore your thoughts and behaviours in a non-judgemental therapeutic space. In our increasingly demanding lives where the focus is so often on others’ needs, this is incredibly valuable, and many people find that this alone helps them feel better. We will review goals and progress at regular intervals. Working in person or online creates a safe space for us to form a deep therapeutic bond, enhancing our sessions together.

Starting counselling can be a little scary, walking into the unknown. The first session is a chance for us to get a sense of each other. Often involving having a conversation about what is on your mind, setting goals for the therapy, and our relationship together.

I will ask you to tell me about yourself to understand your past and present and how you are coping in your current situations. It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.

How I deliver therapy

Long term sessions, long-term face-to-face work, online therapy, short term sessions, short-term face-to-face work.

I also offer EMDR as a stand-alone trauma treatment. EMDR is eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing. It is an effective modality for PTSD and CPTSD.

When you undergo EMDR, you access memories of a trauma event in very specific ways. Combined with eye movements and guided instructions, accessing those memories helps you reprocess what you remember from the negative event. That reprocessing helps “repair” the mental injury from that memory. A single traumatic event can usually find benefit from 3 sessions. Complex trauma can take longer.
